Q. How can I
contact your kennel? |
|
Q. Can I visit your kennel? |
Yes, you can! But we
do have a strict policy on who visits our kennel. This policy is in
place for the safety of our dogs. First, we must have a puppy
inquire form filled out and emailed to us. Then we go from there.
You can find this form on the bottom of our contract page. |
Q. How do I find out more info on how you got
involved with AB's? |
 | Visit our ABOUT
US page for full details |
 | We have been
in love with the American Bulldog breed for many years. We
purchased our first American Bulldog over 8 years ago. We now
breed to make the ultimate/perfect American Bulldog. |
 |
Why we breed:
Because we believe that the American Bulldog is the best of breeds, we
started our kennel. We wanted to share this absolute wonderful
breed with everyone. American Bulldogs are known for their love of human
contact, working ability, loyalty and their affection. Our dogs work for us, protect us, love us and are one of the
family! They are treated with
the utmost respect and given more love then sometimes is possible. Here at
Absolute American Bulldogs, our goal is to produce the best possible
Johnson Type American Bulldog we can. We strive for an absolute
great temperament, high drive and spirit, strong loyalty, love for
companionship, gentleness, and the ability to protect when needed.

|
Q. How do we know you are a reputable breeder? |
We are that reputable breeder because we breed by the
following...
The reputable breeder feels
responsibility toward the breed
itself, toward the dogs he breeds and to the people who
have dogs of his breeding. He spends astounding amounts of his time
and money on matters he thinks are for the best interests of his
breed.
It is this awareness of
responsibility that marks the difference between the true breeder
and mere "puppy-raiser". The breeder is an artist,
motivated by a drive to create perfection; the puppy raisers and the
dog dealers are motivated by the desire to make money.
Fortunate is the novice-buyer who
purchases his first dog from a reputable breeder! Whereas a puppy-raiser
may sell whole litters to dog dealers, the breeder insists on direct
contact with those who buy his dogs, and sells only after the most
careful screening of a would be purchaser in order to ascertain the
mutual suitability of dog and buyer.
While often not fully appreciated
until AFTER the dog is bought, this screening by the breeder is the
greatest protection a dog purchaser can have.
Though the cost of properly caring
for his dogs may cause him sleepless nights and untold worries, the
reputable breeder will never let a single puppy or older dog leave
for a home that is not as good or better than the one he is
providing. Even when the dog is sold, the breeder's help and advice
do not end but continue throughout the dog's life, a responsibility
cheerfully accepted by him without expectation of compensation.
When selecting a puppy, the
reputable breeder will show you a copy of the pedigree and explain
why they selected the bloodlines they used. He will allow you to see
the puppies and the mother and assist you in selecting the proper
puppy to meet your needs.
The Ethical Breeder:
1. Carefully interviews prospective buyers and has specific
requirements that prospective owners must meet, such as housing the
dog in a home with a large yard, agreeing to never let the dog off
lead in an unenclosed area
2. Sells by contract
3. Sells puppies with a health
guarantee
4. Insists upon getting the dog back
if the buyer is no longer able to keep the dog
5. Does not have more litters than
he can keep well groomed and well socialized
6. Does not have more litters than
he can keep housed longterm if he is unable to sell the puppies
7. Spends individual time with each
dog under his care every day
8. Tests his breeding stock for
known hereditary diseases and then breeds with the aim of decreasing
the incidence of hereditary diseases
9. Is very concerned with producing
puppies with excellent temperaments as well as health
10. Can identify each puppy and
chart it's growth and development from birth onward
11. Is willing to help educate the
novice buyer and happily answers any and all questions about his
breed and his individual dogs
12. Is willing and able to show the
prospective buyer the health certificates and test results on the
sire and dam of the puppies
13. Wants to be informed of any
health or temperament problems that his puppies develop through out
the lifetime of each puppy
14. Is available for help, advice,
and education to the buyer through out the life time of the puppy

Q. What is the normal size of an American Bulldog?
|
 | Males range from
75 pounds to 130 pounds, females range from 65 pounds to 120 pounds.
|
 | Visit our
About ABs page for more info |
|
Q. How can I find out more about the American Bulldog?
|
 | You can visit our page ABOUT
AB or feel free to call us with any questions you may have. To find
out some quick information, visit the registry websites. These
website give you background and standards of the
breed. |
|
Q. How will my AB act when he gets home with me? How we he act around
my family? |
 | American Bulldogs can be wary of strangers
but with proper socialization, this will go away. American
bulldogs love their family, especially small children. If
a child and pup are allowed to grow together, you will have a
built in baby-sitter. As with any dog, you must be cautious when
introducing him to new people. American Bulldogs know what and
whom they like; they are an excellent judge of character. You
will not be able to force this dog to like someone if his
instincts tell him otherwise. His pack comes first and that's
who will receive his loyalty.
American Bulldogs are assertive but not aggressive. This dog
will not tolerate being mishandled, mistreated, or attacked. It
will defend itself to whatever means necessary. It is naturally
protective of what and whom it thinks it owns.
AB's requires a minimum of one hour of exercise each day, rain
or shine. If the dog is kept outdoors, this is not a problem,
but, if he is an indoor dog, he must get this exercise. Daily
walks or runs in a yard are sufficient, but they are necessary.
Since this dog has the inherent nature to work, they need the
exercise to release some of that pent up energy.
You must be ready to train a American Bulldog Puppy. If not, he
will become bored and release his energy upon your dwelling,
your shoes, tables..Etc.. If you do not have the time and energy
it takes to train and exercise an active dog, then this breed is
not for you and your family.

|
Q. Do you have any suggestions on how I should choose a kennel to
purchase a puppy from? |
 |
The time you spend researching a
kennel will be well worth it.
|
 |
Be weary of kennels who sell more
than one breed of dogs. The better choice would be a kennel whom
focuses only on one breed.
|
 |
Be weary of fly by night kennels
that are only in it for the fast buck. A true kennel is not in it
money, but one who will spend the buck to make the kennels nicer
and one who puts all so called "profits" back into their
dogs.
|
 | Be
weary of kennels with a large number of dogs or a small number
of
dogs.
Kennels with 40-50-60+ dogs are normally breeding for profit and
not for the ultimate AB. It is very difficult to put one on one
attention with 40 dogs. Does someone with 40 dogs really know
each dog? Their personalities, their structure, what they like
and dislike? How do you know you are getting what you pay for if
they don't even know their
dogs? A so called kennel who
has 3 or 4 dogs normally is s sign that they are a new kennel or
a fly by night kennel. This is a sign that they are in it for
the profit. You want to buy from someone who breeds for the AB
and who has experience doing do.
|
 |
Ask for a copy of the dam and sire's
pedigree prior to purchasing a puppy.
|
 |
Do not send cash or money orders.
Always pay by check or credit card in order to be able trace your
payment.
|
 |
Ask for references of other happy
customers &/or other American bulldoggers who know the breeder.
Also choose a kennel that lists other breeders on their
site. Be weary of breeders who won't recommend any one else. If they
are in it for the profit only they won't tell you about anyone
else.
|
 |
Call these references! |
 | Choose
a kennel that has a written guarantee. |
 | Choose
a kennel you can get a hold of easily, both by email and
phone. |
 |
Interview
the Breeder
Ask questions! How
and what does the breeder feed? How often does he produce
litters? Why is he breeding AB's, what are his goals? Is the
breeder a registered kennel with a registry? Does the breeder
follow up on puppies he sells, keeping the rights to recover
dogs he has sold should they become available? Does he interview
prospects such as you? He should be very carefully screening
potential puppy purchasers. If he is not, then find another
breeder, as a good breeder will not allow just any home to have
a puppy.
When you purchase a
puppy from a breeder, you are also in essence purchasing the
knowledge and experience of that person. Be sure that the
breeder you deal with is able to supply these.
Who is the vet that
this breeder uses? Sometimes a talk with this doctor is helpful,
too. Your new breeder friend will give you info on purchasing,
feeding, caring for and training their breed. |
|
Q. What type of American Bulldogs do you sell? |
 | Johnson Type,
wide chested,
heavy boned, with large bully heads.
|
|
Q. Do you have puppies for sale at this time? |
 | Check out are
PUPPIES FOR
SALE page or
email
us since that can change at any moment.
|
|
Q. Can I put a deposit on a puppy from a future
breeding?
|
 | Yes, we accept a non-refundable
$300 deposits for future breedings.. If the breeding doesn't take
place or there aren't enough pups to fulfill the deposits the deposit
may be transferred to another litter. |
|
Q. Do you guarantee your puppies in writing?
|
 | Yes we
do, see our GUARANTEE or Contract page. |
|
Q:
Which American Bulldog Registry do you use? |
 |
We register all of our adults and puppies with the NKC. Some of our
dogs are registered with more then one registry.
|
|
Q:
If I decide to purchase a puppy or dog, how will he/she get to me and
how much will that cost.
|
 | You have several choices: |
 |
You can either drive here (Miami/Homesead)
and pick he/she up
|
 |
We can ship he/she via Airlines. Destinations in the
USA.
A crate and shipping fee will be approximately
$150-$300. We do not ship out of the country. We do not ship during
the summer months (June to Sep).
|
 |
In some areas, the puppy may be delivered by a vehicle, avoiding the
sometimes hard plane ride. The availability on this depends on the
destination, the timing, and the availability of someone to do so.
Keep in mind the cost of this is sometimes the same shipping through an airlines, but sometimes is better for the pup/dog.
The pup/dog will be delivered by someone from Absolute American
Bulldogs or someone who deals with AAB on a regular basis.
|
|
Q:
Will you help me make T-shirts for our kennel?
|
 | Yes, we will be glad to do it.
We charge $30 for a one color one time art set up fee, plus the cost
of the shirts and imprint. The price varies on the number of colors
and sides you do. Please email us with your exact
specifications. |
